What Was the Issue With Child Labor?
Child labor was a cheap form of work. Companies took advantage of poor children. These youth needed money and were forced to work in terrible conditions. Adults were more likely to strike or leave their unsatisfying jobs. Companies thought that children were more compliant and cheaper. Even though the president of the World was quoted as saying that he wanted to improve conditions, things did not improve for the newsboys in New York and around the country.
